Step by Step Guide to Pool Construction
Step 1. – Pool Design
Our swimming pool designer will meet you at your property to determine site access and what type of pool you will be able to build.
Step 2. – Contract & Approvals
A contract will be drawn up, outlining the flow of work and the various stages that payment will be required. Our engineer will draw a detailed plan and provide drawings to assist in the development your new pool. We will lodge all of the necessary forms with local council for approval. This step can take approximately 2 weeks to complete.
Step 3. – Pool Excavation
Upon confirmation of the Council approval, we will contact you to arrange the pool excavation. Pool excavation is usually complete within a day (dependant on site access). An Excavator will remove the majority of the soil with assistance from trucks.
Step 4. – Steel fixing (box and steel)
Steel fixing typically takes place after excavation is complete. The steel provides a ‘steel cage’ within the excavated space, that provides a form for the concrete to be sprayed on to. The steel adds strength to the concrete. After the steel is fixed, we will set the necessary plumbing features such as pool returns, water features, electrics etc…
Step 5. – Concreting
Once the plumbing items are in place, the process of adding the concrete can begin. Concrete is sprayed on to the steel via hose from a truck. The concrete is then shaped and smoothed to create the form of the desired pool design. External plumbing will be fitted to the site after this phase.
Step 6. – Pool coping/paving
Pool coping / paving will be laid around the exterior of the pool upon completion of plumbing items. Waterline tiles fitted to the interior of the pool (if part of the seleced finish).
Step 7. – Certifier Inspection
A swimming pool fence inspection will be carried out by a private certifier, before the pebblecrete is sprayed on to the pool interior. The inspection fee forms part of your contract and is necessary for the pool build to continue.
Step 8. – Pebble Interior Spray
The swimming pools ‘pebble interior’ will be sprayed on to the concrete prior to the final smoothing out (similar to a render). Upon completion of the surface acid wash, the pool will be ready to receive water.
Step 9. – Pool Chemicals Setup
After the pool is full of water, your pool will be chemically balanced and equipment started in order to start the process of maintaining the pool.
Step 10. – Pool Handover
We hand over the pool. Modern pool maintenance is exceptionally easy, we will talk you through the process and explain how to use the equipment provided to keep your pool in perfect condition.
